PURĀṆA NAVA

Ayurveda

Ancient knowledge for a slower rhythm.

A visiting Ayurveda specialist holds appointments at the farm, and the garden offers a way to learn about the plants themselves.

Consultation

An appointment, unhurried.

Guests can book an appointment with the Ayurveda specialist who visits the property. Sessions are arranged in advance around their schedule.

Ayurveda here is offered as a traditional body of knowledge and a way of paying attention — not as medical treatment, diagnosis or a cure for anything. If you have a health concern, please speak with a doctor.

Purāṇa Nava Ahangama — the name in Sinhala and serif capitals around a stylized flower, printed on handmade paper

Garden walk

Learn the plants by name.

Walk the garden and the farm with someone who knows what grows there: Ayurvedic herbs, medicinal leaves and roots, and the uses they have traditionally been put to in Sri Lankan households.

It is the same game of eye-spy that started all of this, played a little more seriously.

Slowing down

The rest is just time.

What Ayurveda shares with everything else at Purāṇa Nava is patience: observing, asking, and letting things take the time they take.

Sit on the step. Watch the birds in the trees come to the pond. Let the afternoon go past without filling it.

Dusk over the paddy fields

Come a little closer to the old ways.

And discover what they might teach us about living well today.
